Mail-In Voting:
Simple, Secure, Effective

Mail-in voting has been a contentious topic in the last few years, with numerous concerns raised about its security and efficacy. Since the 2020 Election, mail-in and absentee voting has grown exponentially. In the 2022 Midterms, over 1.2 million mail-in and absentee ballots were cast (PA Department of State). With this number set to continue growing, it is important to understand the facts about mail-in and absentee voting.

Why Vote by Mail?

Voting by mail ensures that even if you are unable to make it to the polls on election day, be it because of work or difficulty travelling. Voting is both a cornerstone of our democracy and a fundamental right, and voting by mail can help ensure you can exercise that right.

Security

In the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, there are numerous measures taken to ensure votes are counted both securely and anonymously. Voters are required to present a valid form of identification with their application. A full list of valid identification can be found on the Pennsylvania Government website.

Mail-in and absentee ballots also utilize a secrecy envelope within the mailing envelope to ensure anonymity. This inner envelope cannot have any marks on it, and it will be considered invalid if there are any.

In addition, you cannot vote at your polling place if you have applied for either ballot.
